“That Guy”

A colleague from my work hosted a baby shower party and all of us were invited. While I really like my colleagues and even babies, I really do not like baby showers. I just think that they should either remain a female only event or if men must participate, it should be adapted for men. Forcing men to attend a baby shower is like making women attend a Fantasy Football draft.

Anyways, since the baby shower was on the same weekend as Halloween, I decided to show up in a werewolf mask. There were several senior level people in attendance and I snuck up behind the couch where the proud parents were opening the presents and tried to scare them. The reaction was muted, I do not think anyone wanted to encourage me.

I have abandoned my dog the past couple of weekends, first we were in Coudersport then last weekend we were in DC. It was time to bond, so I took Benny on a bunch of errands with me. I put my hat on him and he didn’t mind at all, I think he kind of liked it. This is a disgusting story and Jaclyn doesn’t even know it because it happened last night when she was out, but it needs to be told. I was watching Sunday night football and runs into the room dry heaving and gagging. I ask, “What’s wrong?”

Winston: I went *gag* to the *gag* bathroom…*gag, dry heave, gag*, and I saw Benny *gag* drinking *convulsion gag* from the toilet *intense gagging* and there was *dry heave* a giant turd in it.

Benny just stared at me a stupid expression on his face, as if to say, “Come on guys, who hasn’t drank turd water before?”

I grabbed a wash cloth covered it in dish soap and washed his head as best I could. Then I started giving him water and food to try to flush out his system. Benny appreciated the extra attention and I reminded the kids of the importance of flushing the toilet and putting down the seat.

Dalia’s birthday almost always falls on the same weekend as a big conference that I need to attend each year for work. Last year, this resulted in Jaclyn hosted a big party of 6 year old girls all by herself in our house. Dalia was also upset with me last year for missing her birthday party (rightly so!), so I was determined to make sure we didn’t miss it again this year. We moved her birthday up a week and had a nice party for her entire class at Flight, a trampoline place. The inside of the building is the size of a soccer field and filled with all sorts of trampolines and platforms to jump off from onto the trampolines. The kids run and jump on the trampolines for an hour and then they go into the party room, eat pizza, cupcakes, and sing happy birthday. The party went without a hitch, the kids had a blast, and Dalia loved the whole thing, in the picture above, she is surrounded by some of her best friends from the neighborhood.

Bday Girl

I took Dalia out for a little shopping trip for her present, she wanted to go to Justice, to pick out some clothing. On top of her list was a jean jacket, which I presume is because her mom frequently sports one. Here she is with her jean jacket opening up a card from Grandmom Ginny & Granddad.

  1. I didn’t know you worked with Jerry Seinfeld. I’m surprised he didn’t play along even for that picture.

Dalia looks so grown up! Oh man, I miss you guys. I miss everyone. Even when they are around, I still miss people.
